Forestry and Land Scotland (the Authority) looks after the national forests and land to enhance biodiversity, support tourism, and increase access to the green spaces that will help improve Scotlandâs physical and mental health and well-being. The Authority also continues to provide vital timber supplies to support a sustainable rural economy. The Authority has a requirement for the provision of Environmental Surveys, as part of the process of managing the national forest estate. The surveys are utilised to make operational decisions which will impact of FLSâ mission âto look after Scotlandâs forests and land, for the benefit of all, now and for the futureâ.
Survey requirements include:
- Ecological Surveys (animal, bird and plant species);
- Ecological Surveys (habitat walkover survey);
- Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) Surveys (including Rhododendron);
- Peatland Surveys (Depth Assessment, Condition Monitoring and Peatland Code);
- Archaeological (walkover survey); and
- Archaeological (measured survey).
