The procurement process for infrastructure scale government contracts is long and resource intensive for suppliers to engage in, with large companies often employing in-house or external professional bid writing teams and smaller companies being locked out of applying due to lack of staff time.
Currently, organisations spend 3-6 weeks per tender submission with high costs, limited revenue opportunities, and significant stress. The average bid requires 38 hours of writing time, 29% of bid teams experience burnout, and finding up-to-date answers is the second biggest challenge facing these teams. This inefficient process is stunting growth ambitions, particularly for SMEs.
Led by final year University of Southampton students, Samuel Aaron and Jamie Horsnell, alongside AI Lead Nicolas Dickreuter, mytender.io's AI-driven platform transforms redundant business documents into winning proposals that secure organisations new work efficiently.
"Specific tender writing AI vs general AI is like wanting to write something in French and using a Latin tool to do it. You need a specialised solution to capture the nuances."— Client testimonial
Unlike general AI tools like ChatGPT or Gemini which are prohibited in organisational bidding processes due to confidentiality concerns, mytender.io operates within a Virtual Private Cloud with comprehensive data security.
The market opportunity is enormous, with a total addressable market in the UK alone of £530 billion across construction, IT, facility management, and energy sectors.
mytender.io has secured a strategic partnership with the largest UK public sector tender portal, giving them exclusive access to 50,000+ organisations with a £150 million potential return.
"We're starting a period of really rapid revenue growth and will be keen to expand at pace, whilst keeping the needs of our customers front and centre of everything we do. It's a very exciting time for us and the industries we're working with and we're looking forward to making significant waves with mytender.io"— Co-founder and CTO Jamie Horsnell
Following an initial pre-seed investment led by Fuel Ventures, they are keen to talk to investors with the skills and connections to enable them to scale at pace.

The mytender.io team have successfully raised £250,000 from a UK-based venture capital firm to grow their AI-powered start-up, marking a significant milestone in their business journey.
Samuel Aaron, 22, and Jamie Horsnell, 21, set up mytender.io in 2023 to help companies write bids for contracts in industries including construction and facilities management.
The fundraising, secured from Fuel Ventures, represents a major step forward for the company. They plan a follow-up round of funding in 12 months if they reach their business targets.
The team includes two other co-founders — Aaron's younger brother, Josh, and Nicolas Dickreuter, a seasoned technology executive who has previously worked at investment banks including Goldman Sachs, Barclays, and Deutsche Bank.
They intend to spend the investment from Fuel Ventures developing the technology and hiring staff in sales and marketing.
"We met a guy from a facility management organisation who said, 'Writing bids is such a pain.' He hated doing it. So he said if we could automate that with AI, then that would be a killer idea to run with."— Samuel Aaron, Co-founder
Aaron and Horsnell have been friends since they met at sixth-form college in Berkshire and have wanted to start a business together ever since. They got their chance when they decided to launch their entrepreneurial venture.
The pair set up a consultancy to help businesses make better use of generative AI tools and it was while speaking to local business people that they had the lightbulb moment for mytender.io.
"It is absolutely the best time to start a business. There is pretty much no risk and you learn so much more than you would in traditional roles. I'm absolutely loving the journey and doing it with Sam is probably the best thing about it."— Jamie Horsnell, Co-founder
They started working on a first version of the product in September 2023 and have been dedicated to growing mytender.io into a leading AI-powered procurement platform.
